Does it take a lot of time to own and operate Automower?

No, Husqvarna's Automower is very simple to operate. Once you have installed the robotic lawn mower, it automatically ensures that your lawn is well cut, without any involvement from your side – whether you are at home or away. Your lawn will always remain well maintained and you'll never have to worry about mowing again.

Is it easy to use?

Yes, it's very easy. The robot mower is very light compared to conventional lawn mowers, weighing about 15 to 30 pounds. The control panel is very intuitive to operate. Once in use, the Automower can be left alone to do its job.

Is it noisy?

Not at all. The sound level of the Automower is very low, ranging from 69 dB(A) down to 58 dB(A) depending on the model. The average level of normal mowers, generate between 95 and 100 dB(A) of noise. You can easily have the mower working in your yard without disturbing you or your neighbors.

What effect does the Automower have on the environment?

Since Automower runs on batteries, there are no emissions generated by the mower. The energy consumption is extremely low. The running costs depends on the size of your lawn, but are only around $10-$50 per mowing season for the electricity consumed.

What if you have allergies – does all that mowing make allergies worse?

On the contrary, if you have grass allergies or hayfever, Automower® can be a great solution for you. Since you don’t need to be present when the robot mower is cutting your lawn, you won't be near any plant allergens when the grass is being cut. Also, your grass is kept so short that allergens don't become airborne.

How do I start and stop the mower?

Once the system is installed, you have to switch on the main switch. Press the START button (if available), and close the keypad hatch. To stop it, simply press the large STOP button.

Do I need to bury the wire in the ground?

No. The wire can be laid on the ground using the supplied staples. In a few weeks, the wire will disappear into your lawn. Remember to cut your lawn as short as possible around the perimeter in order to get the wire as close as possible to the ground. However, if you wish to bury the wire from the beginning, you can. The suggested depth is 1-4 inches.

What happens if I forget my PIN code?

You should contact your dealer who will help you retrieve your PIN code.

What is the maximum operational area for the Automower®?

The Automower® can handle lawns up to about 44,000 sqft (1 acre), depending on the model and complexity of your yard.

Will I still need an ordinary lawn mower?

Not anymore. However, we do recommend you to complement your lawn edges with a weed trimmer or edger for a perfect finish

Can it handle all types of lawn shapes and sizes?

In principle, yes. If you can mow with a normal mower, then the Automower® can also mow. The convenience advantage may be diminished in a very complex yard with large obstacles and small patches of lawns not connected to each other. During the installation process, you will outline the areas the mower will not cut, e.g. flowers, bushes, trees, rocks, etc.

Will it work with my uneven lawn?

Due to the large driving wheels, the Automower® can work very well with uneven ground surfaces. It also handles slopes up to a 45% (24°) incline. It will not scalp hills like normal mowers do. Small deep holes may cause the mower to get stuck so it's important to fill the holes before starting the mower.

Can it work with narrow passages?

Yes, the Automower® can handle narrow passages down to 24 inches, depending on the model.

Can it detect objects such as clothes or toys lying on lawn?

No. It is up to you to keep the lawn surface object free. Any object that is small enough for Automower® to pass over may be damaged, as well as cause damage to the mower’s blades. Make sure your lawn is clear of small objects before operating the mower. What about pine cones, tree branches and fruit on the ground? To maximize the life of the blades, these types of objects should be raked and collected regularly. They will not damage the mower, but the blades will wear out faster. Tree branches may also damage or bend the blades resulting in a poor cutting performance.

Will it cut the grass in rainy conditions?

Yes, Automower® is designed to handle wet conditions. However, it is recommended that you bring the mower inside in extreme weather conditions.

Will it cut in very hot conditions?

The mower is designed to function in temperatures of up to about 113ºF. The NiMH battery capacity is lower in hot conditions. As a result, the mower will charge and mow in shorter periods. However, the area mowed remains unchanged. Models using Li-Ion batteries mow equally regardless of temperature range

What are the benefits of mowing the lawn in a random pattern?

By mowing your lawn in a seemingly random pattern and various directions, you will get a carpet-like lawn. It has also proven to be the most reliable way to cover the whole lawn, leaving no or little uncut grass.

Can Automower® be equipped with GPS?

Models such as the 330X have an on-board GPS that simplifies installation and assists with the navigation. There are also models equipped with a GPS communication device that acts as a tracker in case the product is stolen. With models that have GPS integration, the owner can communicate with the mower via SMS or an iPhone app.

Can children play on the lawn when Automower® is working?

Even though Automower® operates on low power, you can still cut your fingers or toes if they come into contact with the cutting blade. A built-in safety feature means the blade will automatically stop if the mower is lifted up or turned over. The distance between the outer body and the blade tip is also extra-long to avoid feet or hands from accidentally reaching the blades. For safety reasons, we recommend turning off mower when small children are playing on the lawn.

Does it have a theft alarm?

Yes. Automower® has several theft protection systems that may be activated. The mower can not be used without the personal PIN code. The installation lock prevents it from functioning on any other installation other than your own. The time lock requests your four-digit PIN to be entered at an interval decided by yourself. The alarm requires the PIN code to be entered when Automower® is stopped – or an audio alarm will go off. In addition, GPS communication units include a GPS tracker available as an accessory for most models.

Is it potentially dangerous to cats and dogs?

No. Our experience shows that pets will usually respect the Automower® and leave it alone. The mower is equipped with sensors so that when it runs into an object such as pets, it will reverse itself and chooses another direction to mow. If it does collide with a pet, the contact is very light and unlikely to cause any harm.
